TypingClips for TikTok

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. It's a free offering from Typing for the creator space. There's no plan, no card, no trial and no upsell.

Does my video get uploaded somewhere?

No. Your long video is read and analysed inside your browser and never sent to us. The only thing that reaches our server is the 15–20 second clip you choose, and only when you press Post — and we delete it as soon as TikTok accepts it.

How does it decide which moments to suggest?

It looks for a few signals that tend to mark a good short clip:

  • Sudden jumps in loudness, which usually mean a reaction or a punchline.
  • Sustained speech, so a clip doesn't open on silence.
  • How much visual detail is changing, as a proxy for how much is happening.
  • How often the video cuts, which tends to rise during lively sections.

It scores every possible 15–20 second window, throws away the intro and outro, and picks the three best that aren't sitting on top of each other. It's a starting point, not an editor — you preview all three and choose.

What kind of video should I upload?

Long-form work of your own with people talking: your podcast, your interviews, your documentaries, your talks. It needs to be at least a minute, up to 4 GB, and an MP4 with H.264 video works best.

Can I clip up someone else's video?

No. This tool exists so creators can bring their own long-form work to TikTok. Only upload material you made or hold the rights to.

Posting content you don't own breaks TikTok's Community Guidelines and can get the post removed or the account banned — and it's your account on the line, since everything publishes directly to it.

Why does it say my browser isn't supported?

Cutting the clip on your own device needs the WebCodecs API. Chrome, Edge and Safari 16.4 or newer have it; Firefox doesn't yet support the video encoding it needs.

Can I change how the clip is framed?

Yes. You can crop to fill a vertical screen, keep the whole frame over a blurred backdrop, or leave the original shape. There's a live preview of each.

Why are my view counts empty?

TikTok only reports statistics for public videos, and until TikTok has approved this app every post it makes is private to your account. Once approval lands, counts start appearing with no action from you.

How often can I refresh the numbers?

As often as you like within reason. Refreshing everything takes a single request to TikTok for most accounts, and larger libraries are batched and spaced out automatically so nothing hits a rate limit.

Can I remove a clip from this tool?

Yes — the bin icon on any clip removes it and its stats from here. It's a clean-up for your own list, nothing more.

Does removing a clip here delete it from TikTok?

No. Once a clip is published it's a normal post on your account, and TikTok's API has no delete — only you can take it down, from the TikTok app. The two lists are independent: removing a clip here leaves the video up, and deleting the video on TikTok doesn't remove the record here.

How do I disconnect?

Sign out from the menu in the top right. That revokes our access with TikTok and deletes the stored tokens. You can also remove the app from your TikTok account settings at any time.
